Hi, I am running Vista Home Basic 32 bit. My connection to the router is by a Powerline extender (PE). The router/modem has been up for 186 hours. I lose connection between my comp and the PE approx two or three times per day. The PE is directly in front of me and about two feet from my eyes so I can see the three green lights at a glance. The Network Icon in the Task bar loses the blue circle but the three lights on the PE stay on. The lost connection lasts for approx one minute.
My wife who is on the net approx 16 hours a day ( an illness keeps her in bed ) sits about two feet from the router and when my connection drops I ask her if the router is down, she always answers, it's up.
I seem to remember reading previously that Vista does this and there is a remedy. I would appreciate any help on this matter.
regards,
Eddie.
Finally found out that it is something to do with my home wiring. Called Netgear and got them to replace the extenders. Same result. so can only be the wiring. Would like to say am very impressed with the Netgear support, first class.
