Vista HP Local connection only AGAIN

Hi,
here's problem: Compaq presario c700, wifi connection worked fine for years, did series of MS updates, lost internet connectivity.

card is atheros-

I have another c700 that connects fine, i compared the settings for all network/comms processes-the same

tried:
restore to earlier time
reset all hardware on both ends\restored default settings
tired everything i could find here and other sites.
hardware says it's working-can't ping in either direction.
turned firewall off
ran ipconfig to verify various setting, all looks well.


I'm out of ideas!

Can your wifi detect any signals?
Look at your updates to see if the wifi driver has been updated.
