Hi, just joined the forum and hope someone can help me with a network problem.
We have a computer which serves as our main server and all our computers connect to the server with a static IP address via ethernet. Server IP is 192.168.0.1 and other computers are 192.168.0.2,3 and so on
Our server has Windows 7 along with 3 other pc and 1 Vista laptop. All computers connect just fine and can even use the printers, etc.
Recently, we added another another Vista laptop and tried to connect to the server. We've changed the IP address and everything. It can even see all the computers connected to the network. But when we open the Users folder or any shared folder, it would deny us access.
Error 0x8007005 - Access Denied.
What did we do wrong?
Access to the new laptop from other computers in the network is fine. It can even open the shared folder with no problem.
Using the command prompt, I've also tried to ping the server and it got a reply so it's connected.
I don't know much about networking. Just what I learned from trial and error. A colleague helped set up the network for the main server and and taught me how to setup the other pcs before. Unfortunately, he doesn't work here anymore so I just followed what I did before but it's not working.
Help please! Thanks!
