So while trying to connect to the wifi I get local area connection. The Router does have internet, and I get internet while connecting through enthernet cable. both ipv4 & 6 are set to automatic so I don't know why I dont get internet via wifi. Please help.

So, basically, you will be clearing out the DNS , and releasing the IP and then renew it using those command prompts. Those sites show you how to access the elevated command prompt and how to type the commands, once you have done the ipconfig /flushdns press enter. then use the ipconfig /release press enter then use the ipconfig /renew then press enter, Restart computer and try to see if you can auto connect to your router now. Post back how this works out .
Go into Device Manager and check the wireless card for driver update, you may need to get new driver. Look in Device manager and look at that . Open the network adapters and right click the one for your wireless and then click on update driver.
