I can't connect to public wifi networks, but connect with no problem to my home network.
In detail:
Two days ago I went to a cafe I have been to many time before, have logged onto their secured network many times before, on this one and the same computer. Their network password remains the same too, if that's relevant. In the past, my computer had automatically joined the network. I did the whole troubleshooting thing and it said there was a problem with the router, but no one else in the cafe was having connection problems. When I tried to connect manually, it gave me an error saying unable to connect before even giving me a prompt to enter the security key.
I thought it was a glitch with that cafe or just another symptom of the very long, bad day I was having, but yesterday I attempted another cafe I have also been to many times with this computer, on their network and had the same issue...
Background info: I recently moved to a new place and this was the first time I'd been back to either cafe since moving. I joined a "Home Network" at my apartment and have had no issue automatically connecting when I'm here.
I'm thinking maybe I hit some "be true to home network" switch or something? PLEASE help. I am in finals time and it's getting very jail cell being stuck in my home because i can't connect to internet anywhere. Thank you!
