Vista's networking icon blue dot

The blue dot on the networking icon indicates the internet connection is normal.

I've been hearing that sometimes the blue dot will disappear for a few seconds even though nothing is actually wrong. Have you seen this happen yourself?

I've also heard it happens more in Vista and not in XP or 7.

Yes, I have but it usually sorts it self out. There are several reasons for this & not all controllable by you.
