Hi there,
As this is my first post, I'll go through a quick presentation. My name is Patrick, 26, living in Switzerland.
I'm looking for a few help to solve an... unusual question : I'm quite sure there is tons of topics on "how to increase my download speed", my wish is to "decrease it" :D
Well, the reason is simple : I do have several machines on my private network. And when I do download files on my main machine from servers which are really fast (for example Megaupload or similar), I do saturate my 10Mb connection with 1.25 MB/s, which means other machines has strictly nothing left. In fact, they even cannot print a Google page.
I found some documentation on "Advanced QoS options" at Paramètres de QoS avancés (in french, sorry, there should be a translation), which seems to be dedicated to Windows Server versions. I tried to use the same on Windows Vista (the options exists and can be changed), but this had no effect at all on my download speed in Firefox.
I set the value to the least (0 = 64Kb / sec) but was still downloading at 1.2 MB/sec. I tried to reboot the machine, in case this option would take effect only after it, but this option really seems to have no effect at all.
Is it something that indeed works only on the server edition of windows ?
Is there another way on windows to limit the inbound internet connection ?
Would you recommend any free software which can make something similar ?
Thank you in advance, any help will be fairly appreciated.
