lagging issues with halo 1 + 2

Hi Harley here.

i am having slight problem with playing halo 1 + 2 over lan with my mate.

when ever we play halo 2 one of us keeps disconnecting then re-connecting every so minutes. halo combat evovled is not bad expect when the ping jumps suddenly.

we are running a LAN cable between a laptop and a desktop.


my mates laptop specs are

OS: windows 7 home premium 64 bit
CPU: intel core i5 2.27GHz
4.00 GB RAM

Run some malware / A/V scans

If you have Automatic updates installed, a recent update may be the cause.

Make any changes lately? If this is a new problem, possibly system restore may help

Is it just one game?
