It seems that I am connected to the wireless router but not the internet..HELP

Hi,
Since Thursday morninG (Feb 3, 2011) I have not been able to connect to the internet with my laptop wirelessly. I have tries to configure my IP address through the command prompt, and oher suggestions I have found on the internet. I have a computer that is wired to the router, two laptops with a wireless connection, and two playstation 3's with internet access. I have never encounted a failed connection liek this before. Right not I have decided to back up my system and dump my system and restart all over. When looking at networks I an connect to, it says that I am connected to my router. However, my computer internet management says that my WLAN is disconnected, but my wi-fi router us in range and connected. In my network and sharing option in the control panel, when I try to diagnose my failed connection between router and internet, it changes the reasons. Right now the reason is that "Primary DNS Server is currently online but is not repsonding to connection attempts at this time." Then it explains smething about a firewall blocking "domains."

I really need to get this issue fixed ASAP. I have been using this router for close to 3 years without a problem like this. I used it perfectly fine the night before I realized I had a problem.

Hello and welcome to the forum have you tried to a restore back to an earlier date, maybe like a couple of days ago.

My dad said he did try that yesterday. He also thinks that buying a new OS and installing it should work. What is your opinion?

Also, my Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection software will not load. I have tried to update it and nothing happens. I scaned it for problems and code 31 came up. Does this mean anything to you?

Hello I to run windows vista home premium, can you tell me how and what happened when he tried to do a restore.

Hello,
I believe he went through the restore option in the contril panel. (He has done this many times with our other computer because of the viruses we used to get). Nothing happened after he restored it. At least nothing that made a difference.

Why don't you try it yourself as it is the best choice in a situation like this. Possibly he did not go back far enough to get in front of the problem.

Do you know when this problem began? Try a System Restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem began. Here's the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html. Be sure to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will have to re-install any software and updates you installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for the updates.

If that still doesn't work, then please follow the procedures in http://www.vistax64.com/network-sharing/284688-network-posting-tips.html and see if that helps or we'll see if the screenshots you send (be sure too include the entire report even if it takes 2-3 screenshots to get it all) help us understand the issue better.

You may be having troubles with your device drivers, firmware, and/or software. Go to Device Manager by going to start / search box and type device manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears. Check each device for a red x, yellow ! or white ?. These identify devices with problems (probably drivers, but also conflicts or something else). Click on each for further details and troubleshooting tips. If you need to get drivers, and you should do so for the Wireless Card even if it says it's working OK, do so from the computer vendor or device manufacturer (NOT from Microsoft Updates). Proceed as follows to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm. Once you have the drivers, you can install them through Device Manager as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html. Once the drivers are installed and functioning, reboot and you may then have better luck installing the software.
