Newbie network connection question

Hi, I'm pretty good finding my way around computers, but I'm new to handling network problems.

At my office we have 2 computers (both Vista version 6.0) networked together. I'll call them computer A and computer B. I can access, modify, and save Computer B files from computer A - I can save them directly to B or A. However, when I'm on computer B, it will only let me access files on computer A, which I then have to save to computer B if I want to save any changes I've made. I get a message saying they're read-only files and I don't have authorization to save to computer A.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Pls. let me know if I need to provide more information to help get this question answered. Thanks. :D

Also, check the following:

Your User Account should have exactly the same name and privileges on both machines (i.e. both Standard or both Administrative).

I just found out that the network was set up from computer A. Both computers are set up as "administrative." They have different names. How do I change the name?

On Computer B, open Control Panel > User Accounts, and change your Account Name so that it's exactly the same as on Computer A.

Restart and see if it fixes your problem.

Hi Ed. I did that, but nothing changed. Both accounts are now titled "Owner" and they're both Administors. Even after doing this, I'm getting the same message, telling me they're read only files and I don't have authorization to save to this destination. I have unchecked the read-only status, so they should no longer be read only files.
