Xbox 360 kills internet

Whenever I connect to Xbox Live. With an ethernet cord. and play, and finish... unhook cord. i lose my internet signal

How are you connected to the Internet? Is your home connection through a cable modem? With cable modems, if you hook up the client computer directly to the cable modem instead of through a router, and then disconnect the client computer, the modem needs to be powered off to reset the connection.

Next time, connect the XBox through a router that is connected to the modem. When you disconnect, the connection won't need to be reset.
