Files sharing when adding more subfolders

I made a folder called Movies. I then made this folder a shared folder (with no content yet) .Subsequently I added subfolders and movie files inside the appropriate subfolders.

My media player could find the Movies folder but indicated no movie content . I was puzzled . I even moved one of the movie out of the subfolder so that its listed at same level as the subfolder . Still no content . Rebooting the Computer did not help. Finally I unshared and reshared the top Movie folder then everything worked.

How do I set the permissions so that I don't have to unshare/reshare the top folder each time I add subfolders and contents to the Movies Folder?
