Google searches not going to right page?

Neverhavemoney

Vista Guru
Hey there everyone,
It doesnt matter what I search for, or what link i click on, it will always open up to a weird, third party search engine. I have never heard of any of them. I then click back and click the same link again and it goes right to the site.
Also, my address bar is fine, but everything has been taking so long. My internet speed was amazingly fast, then one day, it just started to lag. It never recovered.

Does anyone know why this could be happening?

Thanks,
Ben

What are you talking about?
First, a restore will not solve anything. The restore undos changes to the system that alter non-user files.
And what are you talking about being hijacked?

It sounds like a virus. Make an A/V scan. I posted recently about a virus that takes you to a false Google page. They want you to search on that page, you will be taken to places you should not go. I will try to find the link and give you further information.
Hope this works out, for you.

Thanks for the awsome responses rich. I am very good with security. I have Comodo Antivirus with firewall, malwarebytes, and also spybot. I run a scan daily and it is a deep scan. Usually runs overnight. I have not found anything latly. I am not home right now, but tonight i will look into the google virus and can hopefully remove it.

Thanks for the info!

A Hi jack is when you search vista in google but it takes you to albinoblacksheep.com I believe its a dns level redirection, correct me if I'm wrong though. Either way a simple malwarebytes scan should kick it :)

its normally the additonal toolbar added on your IE browser that tends to direct you to different locations.. uninstall those and run a virus scan.. and a malwarebyte scan

I do not mean to be getting in late on this thread but boy, this sounds like a "DNS Poisoning" to me. But I guess SpyBot would find it? Perhaps run "HighJack This" and post a report??

Really if spybot, malwarebytes, nor his A/V find anything then I would suggest changing the dns server ip address for the network and see if that helps at all. If it does then great if not then there is still something embedded in the system. Maybe an offline virus scanner could work..

Hey everyone,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you all. I ran scan after scan, and a lot of different programs and some came up with a few but nothing worked. I then looked into my device manager and there was an SM Bus controller that was unknown, no other information on it, and it had a yellow triangle/exclamation point in it. I disabled it, and it fixed it. My google searches are good again, and everything seems in order.

Thanks everyone for the help,
Ben
