I seen a post asking about syncing but wanted to make sure it got out to all and posted a new thread instead or replying.
I am thrilled at the end results of this freeware.
Its free for the non-pro version and works fantastic between my Vistax64 desktop and my x86 laptop. I'm a wired LAN @ Gigabit.
I have succesfully sync'd my Favorites, Documents, and Outlook.
I started out simple with Favorites and documents and it went so well I hunkered down and did the Outlook.
All my syncs were at the default both way synchronization <--->. You can do it anyway you want.
The outlook is a little less than simple having you go in and configure an outlook folder to share. Its all in the FAQ how to do it. Basically you have to setup the share folder on the machine you do not have the software installed on.
I just reversed the instructions where they had the program install on the laptop and setting up sharing the outlook folder on the desktop. I wanted it the other way around.
You only have to have the program on a single machine.
It worked syncing my emails and contacts perfectly.
Even better there is an option that takes you right to windows task scheduler so you can schedule the sync's if you like. It takes you right to the spot where you choose the time and hit apply.
I tested it with AllwaysSync shut off and it came on and sync'd at the scheduled time. Obviously both machines have to be running and logged on.
The first time you do it is a little nerve testing. You browse for the locations at the top and then hit the "Analyze" button at the bottom.
It brought up lots of stuff flagged as important messages and after looking them over and seeing nothing looking strange between the two files looking at each other I hit ignore all.
And then there was one more message that indicated there were big differences between the two machines and it was common on first time sync sessions to see this flag. So I got by that one hitting ignore or something to the like and she took off.
Between every file of concern there is a way to choose if you want it to sync both ways, one way, do nothing or delete. I like this program and the creators thinking it all through.
Afterwords I went through both machines expecting to see duplicates or some kind of mess but it pulled it all off flawlessly!
Navigation in the analyzing results with a mouse wheel was kind of sluggish and then I seen the scroll bar buttons on the sides and did the page at a time clicks for a more responsive feel.
I used the free non-pro version. Originally version 9.4.5 a few hours later I seen they put up version 9.4.11 and installed it without a hitch, it wrote over it keeping my jobs and settings in tact.
I LOVE IT. It's @ Allways Sync
