At random intervals the wireless on my IQ775 dies. It shows a red X on the network icon in the system tray.
If I log out and then log back in again, it does not come back.
If I power down and then power back up and login, it does not come back.
If I do a system restore of a previous save, then it appears to return and work. But lately this has become an annoying issue and this time I cannot make it work.
It may work for a couple of days and do the same thing over again.
I can use the hardwire network on the back but cannot get the wireless to work again.
The wireless router I am connecting to is fully functional with every other device in the house that is using wireless.
It just will not connect to the Linksys wireless router.
In device manager it shows only a Nvidia nForce Networking Controller and two bluetooth devices under networking.
I have been having it for some time now and have to play around with uninstalling the adapters and bluetooth adapters that are showing as well as sometimes restore to later points to get the wireless to work on here.
This time it does not seem to want to do this. In another forum I found someone said that it may be a motherboard southbridge problem and to check the OS system files. I tried to do that but nothing happened from what I could tell and if it did, it did not work. I used the system file checker tool to do this.
Today I finally broke down and did a disc recovery on the whole system. This did not solve the issue and still is not finding networks.
Here are the stats for my system:
Network Adapters:
Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
HP TouchSmart IQ775
Processor: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58 1.9 GHz
Memory (RAM): 2.00 GB
System type: 32-bit Operating System
Windows Edition:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Service Pack1
