Wireless adapter will not enable.

Hello- since moving to a new location I've been having problems with my internet connection, and have ran several test.

Yesterday I went to a wired connection instead of wireless, and then decided to go back to wired. Since my wireless connection is through a linksys WUSB600N and it has known problems with skipping when playing games like World of Warcraft I turned off WLAN and had disabled my wireless adapter, then installed another program to run the connection (Which I had done previously though the last time I didn't turn off WLAN or disable my adapter). Then I went to enable the adapater and it wouldn't enable.

I also turned back on WLAN and restarted. It still won't work. At this point nothing I do will enable my wireless adapater. It shows it is enabling but then it just keeps saying disabled. Any suggestions would be great. The light on the WUSB600N doesn't even turn on when I plug it in now, and it just worked less then 24 hours ago.

I am having the EXACT same problem... has anyone found anything out about this one yet? Not many things baffle me, but this one has my hair coming out by the fistfuls...

No... I have two different, brand-new USB adapters: Linksys WUSB54GSC v2 (Drivers downloaded from Linksys yesterday), and Belkin F5D8055 v2 (Drivers downloaded from Belkin tonight). Both sets of new drivers ARE Vista x64, and both NICs ARE on the compatibility list at MS. It feels to me like something is turned off that needs to be on, but I checked the WLAN service, and it is on and normal. I have disabled and even shut off the Ethernet NIC in the BIOS and tried the wireless NICs, but no joy. What am I missing?

I am running Vista 64, and I WAS having a similar problem.

I was trying to use a USB WLAN adapter, and I had tried 4 different adapters, and all updated drivers for each adapter. Had tried turning off AV and firewall.

With every driver and adapter, the same problem:
Windows seemed happy with the driver, but the adapter always showed as "disabled". If tried to enable, it would show: "Enabling......... Enabled!" but it would never actually enable it.
After weeks of troubleshooting and searching the net, I had given up.

This afternoon, I accidentally figured out what was causing this problem!

Uninstall ZoneAlarm!

Somehow, even when ZA was disabled, it was keeping my wireless device from enabling....

I hope this will help someone.

I had been trawling the internet over and over for an answer to this problem that worked.
As soon as I had uninstalled zonealarm, my belkin 8055 started working.
I had all but given up so again thank you.

I have an acer aspire 5570z laptop and I have the same issue but it says the drivers are not installed I uninstall it and reinstall it and still the same thing I have no idea what to do to get the wlan to work it even gives me the error code 10 saying that there is not enough resorces to run the wlan card .
anyone have any ideas ?

I have this same issue and do not have Zone Alarm. Does anyone have any idea what else could cause this?

This may be an old thread but still has sound advice. I had to say a thanks to all previous posters! Thank you. Thank you. Been banging my head against this problem over 3 weeks and manufacturers and Microsoft are totally clueless. All they say is reinstall, reinstall....

I have a TP-Link wireless adapter that also would not connect and as soon as I uninstalled ZoneAlarm, all was well again. This works for Windows 7 64bit too. Had the same problem on several systems.

Thanks for the advice!!!! Had same exact problem, uninstalled ZoneAlarm and that took care of it!
