So I have been trying for over a week now to get this Vista Ultimate x64 system up and running. I am currently running an ASRock 939Dual-SataII board with Athlon64 3500+ single core. However, I can get as far as installing all the necessary updates and drivers but as soon as I start installing programs I run into problems.
The main problem is that once I start installing programs and I am prompted to restart I lose network connection. I have attached an image of what I am showing. Apparently, this seems to be a rampant problem with Vista that for some reason or another it does not like the network stack and wil show two networks; 1. Your configured network (normally private) and 2. an Unidentified Network (public).... If you try to delete or disable one of them it completely disables both. I have tried everything from disabling the IPv6 setting to completely resetting my router (Linksys WRT54G with latest firmware from Linksys). As far as I know, I have all the latest drivers for everything so I am really at a loss. I am currently on my laptop running Vista Home Basic x32 and have no problem connection to the network.
