Also you may be able to log into the routers GUI and boost it yourself. Most router companies set their power output at half by default. So for example the power output has a range of 10 yours most likely is set to 4 or 5. You can log into the routers IP and access its GUI and change/boost that up to a higher level.
Read your owners manual or if you lost it check the manufacturer's website for a PDF on the router. I think you will be fine just adjusting this setting rather than getting some sort of extender.

Hey!! Thank you for your help. There is no way to pull the antenna off. I broke one router of this kind already, by trying to pull it out. If you can tell me exactly what to do, then I will do it. And then, after I pull it off, what is then? There is no connector of any kind!!

Question:well for a laugh i went straight ahead and built one
You said you built one, how did you attach it to Netgear WGR614?? There are no plugs of any sort! Attachment of this antenna to my particular model of the router is what gets me thinking! The antenna on the device itself doesn't come off. There is no place where to plug the new antenna in. Only 4 more ports if I would want to connect with a network cable (All of my computers are wireless)
I'm sure I can buy something. + I'm not as creative as you.

lol if you read back on my 1st post i said i was going to make 1 for my pc wireless antenna as my router doesn't have an antenna
if you follow the blue link i posted ( Ez-12 ) alll you do is save the picture print it out cut it out glue a but of tin foil on the back add the folded but and slot on to you antenna... no removle of the antenna is required.... its play school stuff
stuff you need:
scissors
glue
paper
pen or pencil.... for poking a hole for the antenna:D
