Network question -- I cannot "see" another computer on the network. It knows the laptop name [from the new computer] but it is applying it to windows media. The laptop knows the new computer's name but it can't open it or "see" anything about it. Both machines are working off the same wireless network. Both are discoverable. Neither [yes, I know] has a firewall turned on.
Is there some special trick or is this just Vista fun?
I don't think it is what I thought. I am not 100% sure what the 64 bit computer is seeing now. I note that it did NOT ask me about workgroup and I see no place to enter one. So I think I need to go back to the drawing board.
I have a 64 bit Vista and 32 bit Vista. They are in the same workgroup. Both are able to wirelessly use the networked printers attached to the router. The 64 bit can see the Media player [why?] on the 32 bit but nothing else. The 32 bit can see nothing.
After 10 days of tearing my hair out it works. Why? I suspect both computers got rebooted. I only post because I didn't think of that earlier and others might not either.
On to add two XP and, yes, probably an old Win98 just because.
