Photos change color - Is this a graphics issue or an 'I'm losing my mind' issue?

Hi! I'm hoping someone can help me out here because I'm majorly frustrated at this point.

Regardless of the device I use, I can preview photos on the device and they are the correct color. They are also the correct color when viewed in paint, photoshop, or quicktime windows preview. However, they get fuzzy and green when viewed in a windows gallery or when uploaded to a site such as imageshack. I can open the same file side by side, one in photoshop and one in windows live photo gallery, at the same time, and one will be the right color and the other will be green.

Here are examples. This photo appears blue to me. This one is slightly green and fuzzier. The same file in the same format was used to upload both. What really confuses me, however, is that I viewed the link to the green photo on a different computer, and it looks the same as the blue one. So as far as I know, everyone who clicks on those links is thinking, "But they're the same and you're crazy." Which is arguable depending on the crowd but they really don't look the same to me.

I'm using a Slimline s3220n with Windows Vista Home Edition and NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics. This is a fairly recent issue and is, apparently, inexplicably selective. I have played around with saving the files in various formats but it doesn't make a difference, and also doesn't explain why I view the same file in the same format differently depending on what program I use and when I upload it.

Anyone have any idea what's happening here?

Hello, yes, they looked the same to me, as to why one program shows blue, and another shows green is weird tho.

They look the same to me also. What is the photo format? The two programs might be using different codecs.

It's in JPEG format, but I don't believe that's making a difference since this problem is recent. A format issue also, as far as I understand, wouldn't explain why the photos look the same to everyone else, yet are different to me.

Do you have blue eyes or green eyes?

For jpeg, I would assume Windows Gallery would be using the same Windows codecs as Paint and others.

I would assume the same thing. It really makes absolutely no sense.

I just viewed the attached jpg photo in Windows Photo Gallery and Kwik Media. They both look identical. How about you?

Looks the same in every program. Uploaded it to imageshack and viewed it from there and saved it in photoshop just for kicks and it looks the same, too. Doesn't appear to be a problem with photos I view or save on the internet, only ones I have uploaded myself.

Maybe we need to start working on your mind. :D

You said you viewed that jpg online but the problem seems to only happen with photos you upload. Did you upload the one I posted? Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

However, you saw the differences in different software on your computer.

Note that stuff can happen during uploads or downloads.

You can always post one of your problem children here and we can look at it. I'm talking about your photos. Can't help you with real children.

I'm sorry for not being clear. I meant I only appear to be experiencing the difference in colour when I upload from a device, whether it's a camera or cellphone. It doesn't happen if I download an image from the internet.

Even if we take the programs out of the equation for a minute, I just clicked on the two links I provided in the first post. They now both look green, whereas one was previously blue. I saved them both to my computer and they are both green in some programs and blue in others.

I'm just...so irritated.

I think you're wearing a yellow (a component I believe of both blue and green) contact in one eye and a neutral contact in the other and viewing the photos with one or the other eye closed.

I don't doubt what you're seeing. Like Yard Dog, I have a hard time coming up with a technical reason other than those we've already explored. As old is jpeg is, I can't believe that individual programs are rendering them differently. Almost every program, except those involved with video, use the same installed Windows codecs.

To be consistant, don't use a camera or cell phone to view the photos. Just use your computer monitor. Those other devices introduce too many variables.
