NVIDIA Huge?

I am running Vista Home Premium and just happened to look at my programmes file the other day and was surprised to see the NVIDIA size was 3.76GB and was downloaded only recently. I didn't do it so is it automatic? Do I need all this as I don't do any gaming or that sort of stuff. Can I get rid of some of this or do I need it all? My Graphic Card is GE Force 6150 LE whatever that means! I would be grateful for any help on this, thanks. Rob

Hi,

Is this folder on the root directory of "C"?
i.e C:/Nvidia

If it is then other than the current driver version all the directory contents can be deleted.

Keep the 182.08 folder & delete the older one (181.20).

What size is the folder now?

As you can see the size has not really changed despite deleting the file and restarting the computer. Still 3.76 GB. Programme strip attached. Thanks. Rob

Can you give a file location? I haVE 2 drivers and theyre only 600Meg together.

The other thing to remember, tha "nvidia" driver also has all your motherboard drivers too, not just the video card.

My driver folders are only 120MB each. So, what else is on that drive?

The first image you posted is of folders on the drive (part of the drive contents) but the second (Numbers) image is of the full drive contents.

Please exand the drive & post a full picture or list the directories on the drive. OK?

The NVIDIA file is now only 88.5 mb but the programme list still shows the same gb's.
The original file is dated 2009 but the programme listing says updated recently.

Please explain why this looks like a drive icon & not the same as the folder icon in the other pictures.

Are we only looking at part of the information? Please show an expanded vieiw of this drive or folder.

You have got me there, not sure what you mean? The attached icon is taken from the control panel, programmes and features page and cannot be opened there only changed or uninstalled.

What is the make & model of you PC?
Do you have other Nvidia devices (Chip set & Network card etc.) on the PC ?

According to that you are using 55Gb of 144Gb available on that C partition.

It's possible that it is being reported wrong, I've seen the same thing with intel drivers.

You can use something like this WinDirStat - Windows Directory Statistics to see if there is anything on your drive that is that size.

As suspected, the 6150 is an onboard gpu and chip set.

Still thoug 4Gig is like the same size as an XP install.

Download Disk Space Fan 4 - Fast disk space analyzer and duplicate file remover

choose the free one. It will look like this after a scan,

Mine is 701Mb because I have a few of the older drivers still on my system.

My control panel is only 58Mb.

I finally looked into this on my system, and while mine is only 18.1Megs, I only have 1 video card fromn Nvidia.

I'm now almost certain this is a catch all for you nvidia chipset, and is not 1 file, but ALL files associated with the drivers to run your board.
