Cant Figure This One Out On My Own, HELP!
Hello all. The other day i started having a couple of different issues all i belive to be connected. I Think it is a Graphics card issue but i'm not really sure. First issue whenever a window is open on the desktop the border and "shadow area" are checkered. Second issue is that my s-video output to the tv which worked just fine the other day, will only display black and white. Third issue is that when I play a game everything runs just fine, but there are giant areas of green and purple. Since the problem started I rolled my nvidia driver back, then Updated it to the latest beta all with no change. Then I got so frustrated that I reinstalled vista, which once again made no change to these issues. Any help would be great thanks!!

Hi,
This looks like a Video RAM issue. Do you have a graphics card you can swap out?

You could also try pulling the card and reseating it. In the old days, we used to take a pencil eraser and run it across the contacts on the card.

I don't recommend that.

I know, but it worked then and, I presume it would work today, if there is a tiny bit of corrosion. I think that pulling and reseating does the same thing mechanically. Of course, you don't want to leave the eraser dribblings on the contacts.
I wonder what happened to Borrell.

It could be a RAM issue (that on the graphics card, of course). On the other hand, it could be a heat issue - check the cooling fan on the card to see if it is still working, and check the wires where it plugs in on the card.
