PCI slot not detecting video card

So, I've been trying to play a game (Shatter) that requires a video card with higher standards then the one built into my Inspiron 530 (G33/G31 Chipset Family). I decided to buy a new Nvidia video card (Nvidia GeForce 5600 AGP 256MB). I got it into the PCI slot (it did seem hard to get in) and now the device manager will not show the card. Any suggestions? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Did you see on the CD that the drivers are compatible with Vista (32 or 64 bit as appropriate)
Go to device manger and look for a yellow marker by the driver.
Make sure that it is installed properly.

This is what you do.
Go to the website of the card manufacturer and download the correct driver. It sounds like you do not have the correct drivers.
If they only have XP, use that in compatiblity mode.
Sounds like and old CD

Nvidia has them they say:
Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Theyre old, but theyre Vista drivers.

Windows can run basic settings without the true drivers, is what you most likely are/were doing.

AGP card in a PCI slot? Hmm, I hope you kept the reciept...

Your computer doesn't have an AGP slot, and you've got a PCI-Express port, you need a PCI-E x16 card, take that card back to the store and say it's faulty and walk away... Very quickly,

See, i read that too, but as it worked.. I ASSumed it was a wrote wrong.

I have DirectX 11.

EDIT: It should have support for shader model 2, am i correct?
