Solved Can't change theme/appearence

Ok, I'm new to these forums, and I have a problem. I just installed some updates, and when my laptop restarted, the theme had changed to Windows Standard/Classic and I can't change it to anything else. Same with Theme; It's stuck on Windows Classic and I can't change it to Vista or Aero themes. I have tried going into Services and turning on Desktop Manager and Themes, which didn't work. I really don't want to have to restore to an older backup, and I'm not sure that would help anyway. Is there anything I can do? I can't pay for it to be fixed.

Open the FOLDER Aero and Double click on the File "aero"

Hopefully this should apply the theme

I have tried that, and it just reverts to Windows Classic every time I try.
Also, there's a thread in General Discussion that seems to be on this issue. Sorry, i guess I didn't see that.
