HDMI connection issus

Yesterday my samsung monitor just cut off, I restarted the computer and the tv was showing the hdmi connection but it said no signal. I got my old monitor out and turned it on and it worked, but through the onboard card. I went to the bios and changed it to init display PCIEx, plugged the hdmi back in and restarted, again no signal. In the device manager, its not even showing the other video card. Why cant I see the video card? How to I turn off the onboard card?

also, I have no idea what im talking about. Im COMPLETELY new at this. If you need additional info let me know what it is and where to find it.

Does the fan on your graphic card spin up when you turn the PC on?

Have you got another computer you can try your graphic card in?

Your graphic card might have just died then, unfortunately. If it's a fairly new card then you should be able to RMA it.

Are there any diagnostic tools or ideas you might have? What is RMA? The CPU is not mine, just bad news it busted on my watch. My husband is away on vacation and is going to kill me.

RMA is returning the card for a replacement, if it's still under warranty then you'll be able to do this.

Try re-seating the card, maybe it's come loose. Make sure any power connectors are firmly connected to it and see if it helps.

Do you know the model of the graphic card?

I thought the graphic card was the problem, not the processor lol?

Though if the PC isn't recognising the graphic card, there's not really a way to find out unless you ask your husband.

I forgot to mention one thing, This happened before and my husband waved a magic wand over the bios and it was fixed, but I don't remember what it was. As I mentioned earlier I have the init display set to PCIEx.

Can you not get in contact with your husband to see how he fixed it?

If there is a conflict between the graphic card and the onboard graphic card, then in the BIOS search for where the onboard VGA is listed and set it to disabled, but I'm not sure if this is the case, and if you do disable it and it doesn't work, then you'd need to reset the BIOS via the motherboard to get it back.

Calling him would mean facing the wrath. No actually he is out of the country and kind of hard to reach, and wont be back until the end of the month. Okay, So in the BIOS I pick Integrated Peripherals- Onboard GPU and my options are only Auto and Always Enable. Is there somewhere else i need to look?

yeah, I'm desperate. I put this up on every forum I could find. I will try to find someone tomorrow to test it on their computer. I figure if I buy a better vc, I cant get in trouble, right? Thanks for all your help, this has been extremely educational.
