HD5850

Hi guys So I got my boss that HD 5850 as referred to in one of my previous posts (thanks pizzaman)
It works phenonomally well. There is a problem though. In Modern warfare 2 (COD6) it lags in one of the scenes (goes down to 9 FPS) where the air strike is placed on that town in the middle east in Act 1 and the dust cloud comes up. This is quite strange - latest Catalyst 9.12 drivers, my 2 Nvidia GTX 280's dont have a problem with this scene not dropping below 70 FPS, whereas this new 5850 is hitting 9 FPS where it normally has an average of 70-90 for all the other scenes. Is this something to do with the PhysX GPU acceleration that Nvidia has, or is it that ATI needs to update and optimise their drivers? - This shouldnt be the case as the 5850 renders better than a GTX285 any ideas? Both systems have all the graphics details maxed out - with both enabling V-sync (or sync every frame - have tried both without)

8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
Windows 7 x64 bit
Asus motherboard - cant remember which one mid range
Asus ATI HD5850
1TB Western Digital HDD
650watt Corsair PSU

hm.... did he enable the stuff in the 3d section of the ccc? i discovered that if you do that then it adds to the graphics on top of what the game does and it will drastically cause the fps to drop because of the extra eye candy

Which settings need to be disabled

Try setting your AA & AF settings in CCC to "Use Application Settings" instead of forcing it.

exactly, using the ccc to do that makes things much slower ie i was using urt and turned that on and where i was getting 100+ fps it dropped to 20 and 30 with the ccc AA and AF on along with the games
