185.85 drivers cause some games to have low textures, help needed?

tis the needs, have a bit of a problem with Nvidias latest drivers, updated to 185.85 drivers yesterday and i have an issue with grid and trackmania United forever, low resolution textures are apparent in both games but not all games.
heres a screenshot of trackmania united forever with low textures, all settings are maxed in game, settings worked perfectly with 182.50 drivers

and here are the nvidia control panel settings as they are when i took the picture, no settings changed in trackmania

you may want to turn off the ''forced vsync''

a few ppl are having 185 issues, many found reinstalling them helped.... have you tried the 186's ..??

installed the 186.08 drivers last night and have the same effect, vsync is always enabled and i cant stand vertical tearing.

you wont get the tearing if you leave it set to ''application controlled'' & just use the game vsync option, but if its left on in the control panel it causes benching problems & gaming issues if you dont get enough throughput for vsync...

sorry that dont help your current situation though....

theres no settings for vsync in trackmania, i think its openGL, but im not sure.

i see........

i would suggest a reinstall, but i dont think that will solve it considering you never had an issue on earlier drivers....

the newer driver just may not like this game at all.....

, if thats the case there's nothing you'll be able to do while using them.

oh well, i think its the new drivers with ambient occlusion that nvidia are so despirately optimising, its playable and performance has increased in trackmania but i have an eye for detail and its really annoying at times.
i rolled back the driver to 182's and this is how it looked before the driver update. no settings have been changed in nv or trackmania:

It is the nature of the beast I am afraid. Not all drivers are going to work with all cards on all programs.
I dont have this game so I can not help you.

it's ok roy, im plodding through with the 182 drivers, they are working A OK on my system and all games are fine, just any driver with ambient occlusion on is the problem....

When I downloaded the drivers I turned this option off in the control panel as it is not supported by most games.

I used to update drivers as soon as I got the word that they existed... not anymore!

I have seen and also experienced way to many headaches with them (not all with video drivers though!).

I only update drivers when I really have to or something has stopped working in my games.

You have a Clinical Eye for sure MrNeeds but yeah, there is an obvious difference betwee the last 2 images (even though they are not taken on the same spot).

Being that you have tried going up and down with the video drivers, would you consider uninstalling your video, display and sound and re install new ones of all 3 just for test and giggles?

Why? well, no logical reason but then again... why not? It can't hurt.

if you look in my first post, it is turned off. its stupid that some games have a problem with it, its only one new feature.

and asta, i dont know what the issue is, it does exactly the same thing on Windows 7, same drivers and same game, same hardware, fresh install, it's definatey the GPU drivers, and i cant do anything to fix them apart from rolling back to 182.50's

Are you playing any other game right now that takes advantage of the newer drivers? if so, I would suggest finishing up that game with the older drivers and then continue on with the other games with the newer drivers. If not, then that is cool, just revert back to the 182.50 enjoy the game and don't let it bother you so much, although, I know I would be upset right now if that would be happening to me. :confused:

i play trackmania competitively in a clan, so i need it running a ok, but nvidia are messing about with the drivers.
