I picked up a 4890 last week. Wanted something a little more powerful than my 4850 and was going to get a 4870 but then I
saw this and decided to get one. Wound up costing me $250. Very pleased with the performance thus far.

I hardly think 4 (3.9) frames is "far in the distance".
well it is if its the difference between 26fps & 30fps.
I do apologise. The difference is 6 FPS not 4. I must be going blind.
Still, it is not a huge difference when you consider the core clock increase of 17.65% and a 23% memory clock increase only equates to a 16% performance increase, not to be frowned upon though.
I was running Furmark last night and at stock speeds I was getting 90 FPS but I then overclocked my GTX to 730/1662/1300 which is a 12.6% core clock and shader increase and a 4.66% memory increase.
After overclocking I was getting 120 FPS which equates to a 33.3% performance increase.
EDIT: I found a power consumption graph. The 4890 uses less power overclocked than a GTX285 at stock.
