New graphics card in but having a problem.
Hi to all.
I bought a new Graphics card on the advie of some great people on this forum.
I bought a Asus HD4670 and a new psu. I have put them in the case and all is well.
The only problem i have is when i start the PC it will stay on the Windows Vista Startup screen for about 5 mins then finally it will boot up.
Does anyone have any idea why this is now happening and how i may be able to cure it?
Thanks. Rossy87.
P.S. It was starting fine before the new graphics card went in.

Hi.
Yes all pins are connected from the psu.
And i have installed the drivers that came with the card so far, and downloaded DirectX 10.
Should i update the drivers then?
If so where is the best place i can get them from?
Thanks. Rossy87

If its still slow after you install CCC you can do this
1 - Update
DirectX
2- Go into windows defender and delete the CCC startup entry plus anything else you want
3- Go to the start orb and type
prefetch into the search bar and hit enter. Delete all the files in the prefetch folder
4 - Right click your desktop and create a new shortcut. In the location box paste this in
C:\Windows\System32\Defrag.exe -b %SystemDrive%
5 - Once the shortcuts created double click on it and allow it to run then reboot your pc.
Hi guys,
Another quick update.
Upgraded to the latest drivers and directX and also did what Stew2 suggested and now everything is ok.
The vista gurus come through from me yet again!
Cheers guys.
