Ati Say I Can Get Sound Through Dvi?

ok i am running an ATI HD 2600xt and ATI say i can get sound through my graphics card using an HDMI adapter to a TV now i tried both HDMI ports on my tv and both DVI ports on the card but still no sound through this i think i'm missing somthing but not sure what maybe not connected something to the graphics card if anyone has any idea's please let me know.

I have just looked at the specs and it does say built in 5.1 sound, if I remember rightly not all leads carry audio, do yours?

Looking a bit more at this, have you changed your sound device to "ATI HD sound decoder"

yes the leads do carry sound or at least should will check with a my dvd player not sure about the decoder i'll browse the catalyst and check my drivers again

ok it have 3 choices on sound they all say HD sound 1 say's HDMI but none of them refer to ATI would that matter ?

Check control panel->sound and see if you have ati audio listed, if so try setting it to default.

it was the HDMI option didn't even know it was their untill now

having a nightmare with vista only had it for 2 weeks and hardly any apps or games run well on it
