I don't know if anyone can help me. I just started getting BSoD when shutting down or restarting. I had just upgraded my printer driver, so I used system restore and set it back before I got the new driver installed. Now it shuts down fine, but....it still gets the "driver_state_failure when I try to restart and only then. The rest of the time it's fine.
I can't figure out what else I did to get this problem started, if my hard drive is dying, I have 2, one internal, and one external as a backup. Is either of them dying?
What I want to know is, obviously how to solve it and make it go away. I can't even figure out the stop code, because it's so fast that I can't write it all down. How do you get a copy of it as Windows hasn't started yet, so I can write it down for help.
I have the following;
Computer: Hewlett Packard Pavilion 6110y, running Windows Vista Home Premium X64 SP2
CPU: Intel Pentium E5300 @ 2.60GHz Wolfdale 45nm Technology
Motherboard: PEGATRON CORPORATION Benicia (CPU 1)
RAM: .00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (6-6-6-18)
Display and Graphics Card: DELL E771a (1024x768@75Hz)
Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family (HP)
Hard Drives: 596GB Western Digital WDC WD6400AAKS-65A7B2 (SATA) 106 °F
2794GB Seagate Backup+ Desk USB Device (USB (SATA)
USB Kensington Mouse
USB HP Keyboard
Epson WF-3640 All in one printer
I hope this helps somewhat. I have no idea at all how to get the stop code long enough so that I can see it or capture an image. If anyone could tell me that at least to start with, that would help. I think it has a lot of "F" in the code if that helps. I am so frustrated. We were planning to get a Windows 10 computer over the next Xmas holidays, which makes it even more frustrating. Could anyone help me please. I've been using the computer for a while, but I've never gotten anything like this with XP at all, and nothing till just about a week and a half ago. I don't know if it's the Bios, the drivers, or what. The only software I've loaded that is relatively new is McAffee Internet Security Suite AOL Special Edition, Reimage (to help with the blue screen of death, but it keeps catching on 80.8% done, CCleaner Professional and Glary Utilities Pro, and those were updates to software, I also installed Microsoft's Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for your help and patience with a BSoD newbie
Sincerely yours,
Maghdalena
