Desktop File Folder on C: drive copied onto D: drive - Boot Sequence Change - Error

I have company files on my desktop computer's original Western Digital 7200 RPM hard drive. Drive letter C: running Vista 64 bit.

The files are saved on the desktop in a folder, where all the shortcuts, folders and icons are.

I installed a SSD hard drive, and re-installed a fresh Vista 64 bit o/s from scratch. Drive letter D: Everything works fine. Reboots are quicker, no more crashes.

On WD desktop: I saved company file folder from WD's C drive onto SSD's D drive.

I reboot, I press F10 into BIOS and move boot sequence around from WD to my SSD and save then exit.

When I get to the desktop screen now when on SSD desktop, I look on the SSD hard drive, which is now C: and WD is now D:

THE copied y folder from WD on D: to SSD on C:

I try to open that folder and there is an error.

When the boot is on WD, I save folder to USB. It works fine.
Havent tried copying from USB to SSD after F10 boot change.
Do I have to disconnect the WD hard drive?

You have essentially created a dual-boot computer and are using the BIOS settings to determine which system to run.
With both disks connected, Windows will assign the drive letter C: to the running system, no matter which system you start, and assign D: to the other disk.
To a large extent, drive letters are irrelevant; don't get hung up on the drive letter assignment, they're not permanent.

When you ran the SSD system, the folder you wanted was on the desktop, right? So, nothing more needed to be done.

If you want to access some of the other WD files (as D: )for the time being, keep the device connected.
Otherwise you can either disconnect or remove it. You could also keep it connected, but remove the drive letter assignment (using Disk Management in Vista) if always having a D: drive is confusing.

You didn't say exactly what the error was.

I think I worded it wrong in the OP, so I changed and added a couple words.
But I think perhaps you got the gist of it in the OP.

I do realize the drive letters are not permenant.
Yes when I run SSD to boot up, the file I wanted was saved to the SSD from the WD desktop through my computer.
I wanted to move that location on SSD to the desktop of SSD when booted from SSD.
Just like when I boot from WD, that file is on the desktop.
Basically moving everything over so its the same, easy access.

I hope that all makes sense.

Still running into some problems, I think both are related. New problem is when I backup the file from WD desktop, SAVED to USB. I am having errors. File cant open, big long message. Luckily I searched for the file and it was up to date.

Sorry for the delay, I just need to focus on each problem as they come. This is the problem I am working on now. Later on tonight I will play around with it again and get what the error says, and what the action pattern is that I do so its more clear for you.
