Solved Help with disabling Windows Vista Auto Arrange

I HATE Windows Vista!!! This worthless piece of junk program takes it upon itself to periodically auto arrange my files on its own which is VERY annoying since I have several hundred documents sorted into numerous folders and I need to have them arranged in a particular manor so that I can find them when I want! However, I can usually fix the problem by doing a system restore but, after it auto arranged the files again this evening, I attempted to restore the system but, it told me that there are no restore points present on my computer!!! So, I tried downloading and installing the bat file for disabling auto arrange in Windows Vista 64 Bit listed in the tutorial per the instructions and I did see exactly what the tutorial said I would. But, I am STILL able to auto arrange the files by clicking on Auto Arrange! So, how do I PERMENENTLY disable this worthless feature?

The tutorial below you mentioned will disabled auto arrange, but you are still able to turn it back on for any specific folder. I'm not sure what to say other than don't click on the "Auto Arrange" option that will turn it on for that folder. If you do, then clicking in it again will turn it off again for that folder.

Thanks for the information. I was concerned that the .bat file had not worked when I discovered that I could sill auto arrange the files in a specific folder manually. However, as long at it quites auto arranging them on its own, I will be happy.

You might also want to look into a program like Iconoid or DesktopOK which remembers your Desktop icon positions and restores them at boot or any time you want.
