I've tried searching but have not been able to resolve this myself and hope that someone can tell me how to resolve it. I am the sole "User" on this laptop and therefore assume that I am the Administrator ( albeit with perhaps limited rights). My HHD has 2 partitions, one for progs the other (D: for data. The directory in which I am trying to save this file is Utilities ie d:\Utilities. The file is a bog standard HTM file which I transferred into the Utilities folder with no problem. However, after making some amendments to the coding (using Notepad) Vista refused to let me save the file. An error message indicated that I should check that the path was correct which it was as I was using "Save as" to save the file. The Notepad error message generated was:
"Cannot create the D:\Utilities\Resource.htm file
Make sure that the path and file name are correct"
Assuming that this was down to Vista and its frequent "permissions" hassles I tried giving Admin full permission to the the Utilities directory and also the htm file. I did the same with permissions for the User. I also did the same using "Take ownership". None of these made any difference and Vista resolutely refused to resave the file. Ultimately, I managed to save the file by changing the extension to .txt and after saving it renaming it back to htm.
I would be grateful if anyone can indicate how I can resolve this
