Is ok to let windows media player play online or website contents?

Sometime when try to play a video from a website it load my windows media player to play the video.It's that o.K to let it play?I mean it can infect my pc with virus or malicious code?

If you have a good anti-virus program, it shouldn't be an issue. One thing you might want to do to help if the anti-virus didn't detect a virus and the virus affects your system is to have Vista create a system restore point on a scheduled basis. I have it set to create one once a week.
