Solved how do I format recovery partition without reinstalling vista?

is their an easy quick and safe way for format the recovery partition without reinstalling vista? my partition does not work and I'd like to get the 10GB of disc space back.

In addition to the steps given above may I suggest that first, you download the free Macrium Reflect. Make an image of your hard drive on an external hard drive.
If anything every goes wrong, you can go back to day one with the image. If you want to be very safe, the way most people here are, make an image every 2 weeks. If anything happens, even a bad virus, you can go back to the way it was 2 weeks ago.
