In the same restore point, the used shadow copy storage space is keep increasing

I found something strange, perhaps it is something I do not understand.

After I set the first restore point, the used shadow copy storage space is keep increasing although there is only one restore point until now:

Used Shadow Copy Storage space: 0 B
Allocated Shadow Copy Storage space: 0 B
Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space: 3 GB

Used Shadow Copy Storage space: 102.406 MB
Allocated Shadow Copy Storage space: 400 MB
Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space: 3 GB

Used Shadow Copy Storage space: 211.297 MB
Allocated Shadow Copy Storage space: 500 MB
Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space: 3 GB

However it is still increasing at the moment. I think it will be increased only when the second restore point is created. How it keep increasing in the first restore point?:

Previous versions are automatically created independently of restore points and are saved in the same shadow copy storage space. In addition, how many restore points does it show that you have currently?

I did not set anything to allow my Vista keep previous version copies, actually, I do not even know how to do that.
I only need to keep the system files at the time I set Maximum Shadow Copy Storage space and to keep the system files in future in the second restore point and so on.
So, how can I check if my Vista was set to continuously copy files of previous version? Or, how can I stop my Vista to do that?

If you have system protection turned on for the drive to create restore points, then it's also creating previous versions.

However, according to
Turn System Restore on or off
"Turning off System Protection for a disk deletes all restore points for that disk. "

Moreover, if my Vista copy files of previous version in the same point, when I do system restore, how my Vista decide to restore which version system files?

I got a guess....do you think my Vista need time (a few days!) to copy all system files in that restore point?

Although part of the same system protection feature, these are two separate things that share the same space. If you turn off system protection for a drive, you would lose all restore points (Windows) and previous versions (files) from it.


For restore points, you would select what restore point to use when doing a system restore as per the tutorial below.
For previous versions, you would select which version of the file you want to restore as per the tutorial below.
