windows 7 problems with old games

I m facing a problem in playing old games like gta sa and prince of persia t2t . When i start these games my cpu usage jumps to 85 percent but the game did not starts , i have to double click on the game once agin to start itnd games do not run smoothly it lags a little while playing , my laptop start heating a lot and in the end it overheats and and shut down i m using windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and 2 gb of ram please tell me how can i fix it .
