compatable for windows 8

hi all.my laptop is a dell inspiron 6400 and operating system is 32bit vista home premium.Would these two be compatable to an upgrade to windows 8?Would the touchscreen work ok,or would i have to download some appropriate software? the laptop is 5 years old.Any advice would be most appreciated.ty mally

If you like, you could run the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant up to only step 7 in the tutorial below, then stop. It will give you a compatibility details report to help see what issues you may have with upgrading to Windows 8.
