It is the same though.

Hey i managed to remove the back cover. Didnt realise there was some secret button(blended in well with the background) anyway, i managedto damage one of the screws to get to the ram and im wondering how to unscrew it now. Also, can i place this ram module: 512mb ddr 400mhz cl3
Pc3200U-30330
Hynix

Nutz on the damaged screw.. What type of screw vis it, the + shaped type?

To get it out, you'd ideally want to get an "easy-out" It's designed to dig into the screw top... but not sure how damaged the screw is, so its hard to help.

That ram will technically work, but unmatached modules sometimes don't like each other.

Lets jut say i went overboard. It's quite badly damaged. I managed to not damage the other 1. Found a screw that worked perfectly but was too late. I heard that i could cut a straight line across for a minus shape. I dont have a saw though so got any ideas on what i can use.

What do you mean by unmatched modules? Would it damage my motherboard or kill the ram?
Also the ram came from an old computer that is also a sony vaio.

Unmatched meaning both identical i.e. same make and model.

It won't blow up your computer, or anything, but it might crash alot. But it won't really damage it.

Yha you can slot it.. use a file... A metal finger nail file might work, or a hack saw blade.

You can try it... doubt it'll work though... I'd pop down to a local shop and check if they have anything, cause its gonna be a major pain..
