never ending loop of trying to repair itself

hi,

wonder if anyone can help me, I got a problem with laptop it would not boot up it just kept basicly seemed like a never ending loop of trying to repair itself, i left it doing this for about 24hrs and still would not load up vista properly

I have got it running in safe mode currently but of course i need to find out why it would not load up the normal way, i have no backup disks or vista disks to do a complete reinstall.

can anyone advise me on what i should do to get vista working properly again and tell me why this happened all of a sudden
