I have the box checked to run once a month. It'll run as scheduled once, but then I'll have to go in and run it manually. Anything I should update?
Solved Disk Defragmenter won't run on schedule

Disk defragmenter is designed to run without you knowing about it. It will only run when you aren't using the computer so how do you know that it isn't? Are you experiencing performance issues? If you are really convinced that it isn't running try this: Start Menu > Accessories > System Tools > Task scheduler
In task scheduler on left hand side: Task scheduler library > Microsoft > Windows > Defrag
In the top center section look for ScheduledDefrag Rick click on it and select enabled. Double click on it, select triggers tab, and then the edit button. Make sure that enabled is checked. Close the windows.

Also go to start search type services.msc and check that remote procedure call (RPC) and Event Log are running
If not highlight them and right click then click properties general and set the startup to Automatic

- Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed
