I have a gateway computer that is about 3 years old. It has a ati radeon 3200 gfx card and came with 4 gigs RAM. Recently I purchased 2x2gb G Skill DDR2 ram upgrade in hopes of more efficient gaming [gfx card is OK for 8gb ram max]. After installing the new ram [about a month ago] the computer was running fine. The new ram created a button on my toolbar called AMD Catalyst, and right-click gave identical options for each ram card, one was a list of what looked like screen settings. I know it were running on 600x800, and last night my troublesome youngest son was using my computer and says he clicked a different option by accident, making the screen freeze momentarily then go black.
I've tried:
restarting my computer
removing the 2 G Skill ram cards
under msconfig in safe mode, disabling AMD Catalyst, for it seems to be the root of the problem.
But every time i restart my computer and try booting in normal mode, I get the typical Welcome ring from the speakers accompanied by a black screen. The screen is a 36" Vizio flatscreen tv with VGA hook up, been using for a computer screen for over a year now.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
