Windows Photo Gallery & Windows Live Photo Gallery.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop. Fairly new to computers, but in the last 2 years I have loaded photos from a digital camera, and also from a scanner. I have successfully emailed some of them. Yesterday, when trying to get the full knowledge about how to use the Photo Gallery, I realised that I have Windows Photo Gallery, and also Windows Live Photo Gallery installed. It seems that both can be used without any problem. However, when I have been in 'Live Gallery' a message will appear that '.... Live Gallery has stopped working.' followed by a prompt- should I report this to help with a repair, which I always do;then another prompt to close the programme. Next time I use Live Gallery everything is fine, then eventually the same prompts again appear.
Am I doing something incorrectly ? From what I have gathered trawling around here, the Live Gallery has extra features not found in Photo Gallery.

Since Windows Live is an internet connected program, I'm wondering if you're just getting the same error message I get several times a day with Internet Explorer. Lately, IE has been recovering on it's own rather than saying it has to shut down.

I assume that SP2 refers to Service Pack 2 ? However, being relatively new to computers, and classing myself as a novice, I do not understand what SP2 is.

As things are at the moment, when looking at, and scanning photos, slides, I am using Windows Photo Gallery, and ignoring the 'Live' Photo gallery. Not really encountering any serious problems with the former.

SP2 is Service Pack 2. It's the second major update to Vista.

Go to Control Panel\System, what you have will be shown under Windows Edition.

While you're at the Control Panel, go to Programs and Features. Do you have Microsoft .net framework 4 installed?

Wither3, I forgot all about this I had posted. Just checked and found that I do have what you mention, it is shown as : Microsoft. NET Framework 4 Client Profile installed on 2.11.2010.

The program immediately above that is : Microsoft. NET Framework 3.5 SP1; installed on 31.5.2009, which is the date I bought this laptop.

Can the 3.5 SP1 program be uninstalled, or does it refer to Windows Photo Gallery ? I am still using both Photo Gallery and Live Photo Gallery, although the latter still comes up with the message ..... 'live Photo Gallery has stopped working" then after a few seconds it is back to normal.

.net framework is installed by programs that use it. I can't tell if the Microsoft apps use it because I have other video software that uses it on all my systems.

If you go to Control Panel, Programs and Features and select .net framework 3.5 SP1 as if to uninstall it, you will get two options. Chose Repair. Let it repair and then reboot. Does that help?
