All the info on my computer was erased. How do I find the files on my external hardrive and put them back on my my computer? I can't see any of Microsoft docs, pictures, music, etc... that I backed up on the external drive. Can anyone help?

No need to worry. Download and use shadow explorer, if you cannot use back up drive, and your problems are history. You will find them on the drive they were erased from.

My computer battery died and then when I turned it back on it said "Cannot log in to user". It then logged me in to a temporary user profile with none of my information. I tried a bunch of different techniques to find the data in my old user profile, but its gone.

The user interface is similar to an undelete program. It lets you copy files or folders our of restore points. If you have Home Premium it doesn't have "previous versions of files" but if it's a file that gets saved to a Restore Point, ShadowExplorer can copy it out. Very nice free tool.
