Errors causing multiple crashes

Hi all I am having a problems just because I did a system restore only from two days prior now my Vista Home Premium is acting weird in the area of errors. There has been nothing wrong with my laptop until I did a system restore to recover software I had lost. So this should not have happened because the date I went back to on the computer was totally fine. Cannot write notepad or do Hijack this because it keeps saying I have eternal errors. So something is wrong here. I did all updates still nothing.

Is there any help you can provide?

Okay tried to do what you said but my system restore box wont show up. I tried to open it again and it wont come up on the screen it says it is already running. so now I am going to shut off my computer and try a restart and see if I cannot get it to show up.

Hi Rich sorry I am having a heck of a time here because every since I started with a new internet carrier it has been a nightmare, I have gone through three wireless routers now do to this service and my laptop is having a hard time staying connected I am so bummed. may we can figure that out too.

I am not able to get to undo the restore point.

Maybe we can do a factory restore if you give me the make and model of your computer. You will lose your stuff.

I don't like those "eternal" errors. :)

Usually, if it says that system restore is running, you haven't waited long enough for it to finish finding the restore points. Every time I do one from Safe Mode, it takes 5 to 10 minutes for it to finish. You might want to try it again.

Usually Yard Dog asks a person to run the SFC /scannow to see if there are any files that can be repaired.

Hello, saw my name on this thread, so, had to look . For one, reference the post by Wither to try the restore undo again seems appropriate as from your post , you did not seem to wait long enough for it to open up. When you ask System Restore to open up , it has to find all the needed files , I would give that another shot as Wither has suggested.

Okay, that would indicate that a restore was not done recently or it was done in Safe Mode. Run the sfc /scannow 4 or 5 times total for best results please.

Okay tried to Run Check Disk from within the Drive's Properties Page
NOTE: This method may not always run chkdsk when the computer restarts on some computers. I'm not sure why, but if this is your case, then you can do Method Two, Method Three, Method Four, or Method Five below.
1. Open the Start Menu.

2. Click on the Computer button.

3. Right click on your hard drive and click on Properties.

4. Click on the Tools tab.

5. Click on Check Now under the Error checking section. (See circled in red below)



Did not work it said it could not do it because it is in use. Strange.
