Solved Can't clean install Vista x64

I currently have Vista Home Premium x86. I am wanting to clean install x64 Home Premium with my product key. I downloaded an .iso of Vista x64 and burnt it on to a DVD. I went through the BIOS and installed from my DVDrom. It attempted to install after I typed in my activation key. It got past phase 1. Then before phase 2 could pass 0% I got this message.

"Windows cannot open the required file E:\Sources\Intall.wim........Error code:0x800700D"

Anyone know what the problem could be? Is it a bad download of the .iso? If so could someone share a link for a good download? I've been searching the internet all weekend and haven't had much luck.

Hello Hormel and welcome , my understanding is that you would need a legal copy of the OS. Did you acquire this ISO from Windows or your computer manufacturer ?

Thank you Yard Dog. And yes, you interpreted my post correctly.
I have an install disk from Dell; however, it is 32bit. The 64 bit .iso I found from searching, "official Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit .iso download" on google. I read on a site that windows released an .iso titled "en_windows_vista_with_service_pack_1_x64_dvd_x14-29595", and that this is the one I should find for downloading. Well, I found it, downloaded it, put it on a DVD and tried installing it. And of course, I got the error I described in my original post.
From my understanding my product key will work on both 32 and 64 bit Windows Vista Home Premium.

Welcome
A computer that comes with Vista installed or if you buy the OS alone, the one key WILL work with both the 32 (x86) and 64 bit. You must remember, only one computer at a time as per the EULA (End users license agreement.). You would also want to be sure that your computer can handle 64 bit and that the download is indeed legal. You may experience more than just install problems with an illegal copy of Windows and we cannot offer any assistance in that situation.
You may experience problems if you key has the letters OEM somewhere in the body.

Do you have a 64 bit processor (CPU)? If you're currently running Vista HP x86, (assuming that came installed with your computer when you got it) then you probably have a 32 bit processor. A 64 bit (x64) version of Windows can ONLY be installed on a computer with a 64 bit processor.

If you give me a link to the page you got that download from, I'll check to see if it's legitimate for you.

@Yard Dog-> That's exactly what I did. The error I described came right after the first screenshot in step 13. The only thing that might have caused problems in my install that the link mentioned was, "Sometimes people have problems installing Vista with more than 2 GB of RAM installed. If you have this problem, then you should install Vista with a maximum of 2GB of RAM installed and add the rest of the RAM after Vista is fully installed."
Could that be the problem? I wouldn't think so because the error said there was a missing file.

@richc46-> According to Intel's spec-sheet, my processor has 64 bit architecture. Also if I go through: Control Panel\Performance Information and Tools\view and print details, it also confirms my computer is 64 bit capable. Lastly, my key does not have the letters OEM in it.

@Slammer-> See link in @rich for info about processor. Also, I know longer have the link to the download as I recently ran ccleaner which cleared my browsing history.

To All-> Just to clarify, I am not trying to install windows illegally. I think my download is legit; however, I can not prove it since I no longer have the link. If anyone could provide a link for a for legit download, I would be very appreciative. I called my manufacture Dell to tell them about my desire to install 64x and requested a 64x install disk. They considered this to be an 'upgrade' and stated they could only provide install disk for the original 32bit Vista Home Premium operating system.

I did a few google searches, and it appears that while you can pretty easily download Windows 7 iso's legally, I was unable to find a link to a legal version of a Vista iso. Closest thing I could find was Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 Official ISO's Downloads | Fix It WizKid - Free computer support forum and chat. which should work for you, although it looks like it requires some additional steps to put the files into a usable iso. I don't know if it will fix your install errors, but there you go :) Let me know if it works.

Thanks for the post Slammer.

I thought I would add some of my findings to this post before marking it as solved.
From what I have found there is no legal .iso download for vista, mainly because it is so old. However, I unintentionally found a solution from another thread I posted. There is a legal download (found by Slammer) for the instillation files here. (same link as slammer posted)
There is an instructional video on how to turn these files into an .iso disk. It's not to hard either. The only tricky part is the program used to create the .iso disk has no GUI. It's all cmd interface. The instructional video explains how to create a x86 disk; however, this doesn't cause any problems because it is the same for x86 and x64. The very last 'phrase' of the command to execute the program is the name of the .iso you are about to create. In the video it says something like vistaX86 in this part. This worried me at first because I thought it was going to make a x86 disk. Just type in whatever you want here though. It's just the name of the file.
I did this and it successfully created the .iso. However, when I burned it to a disk using the freeware imgburn the disk did not work. This could be from bad burn. I also tried booting the .iso in oracle virtual box. It gave an error, but a good error. It basically said that it could not boot from the .iso because the .iso was 64 bit. Virtual box is a 32 bit program, so it may not be able to load it for that reason. I don't know for sure because I didn't explore the issue.
I found a friend that had a 64 bit instillation disk, so I reinstalled with that.
In summary. I think the .iso created from this program works; however, I'm not sure. If someone is looking to reinstall vista in 64 bit from 32bit and they have a legit product key, I would check this link out.

Thanks for posting all your findings! You are correct about Virtual Box, although you got the reason wrong: it cannot virtualize 64 bit OS's unless you're lucky enough to have a CPU that supports hardware virtualization or something like that (which the majority don't). It's totally capable of emulating a 64 bit OS, but only if your CPU can handle it by having the above support I just mentioned. Of course, it would probably still give you that error even if you had a bad disc, because that's like the 1st thing it checks. So I'd bet you probably did get a bad burn.

Thanks again for adding all that extra info, and I'm happy you were able to get it solved!
