Hey Vista users,
I've searched online for a while, and maybe I just didn't know how to search correctly, but I couldn't find anything for my Vista issue. Here's my situation:
I use XP. My dad had a Vista Home Premium 32bit PC that died. I think the RAM went bad, or something, but whatever it was, he couldn't boot. Long story short, I scavenged his computer. I took his two hard drives and installed them in my PC. The one hard drive (E
I'm using as a back up for music, etc. (it has only my files). The other (I suspect) is displayed as two drives (Factory_Image (F
and HP (G
, which is blank). Both HDDs are the same size, but whereas XP shows E: to be 298 GB, it shows F: to be 9.51 GB and G: to be 288 GB (why I suspect F: and G: together comprise the second HDD). F: has only 1.29 GB of free space, but of the files I can see (even with "Show hidden files and folders" checked), F: only has 220 KB worth of data on it. And so, I figure F: holds the backup files.
My question/hope:
I want to upgrade to Vista. I have the Vista key from my dad's computer, but don't know 1) if Vista files are located on F:, and 2) if the files are on F:, how I access them and then how I install Vista on my main HDD (or even give myself the opportunity for a OS boot option).
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
