Anyone with a fresh solution for this problem??

I had to do a back up on all my files before installing windows on my HP desk top, I got about 74 GB of photos for all my children, unfortunately my 6 months old Toshiba external hard drive became corrupt at the same time....

Can anyone tell me how to restore my files?...I got 22 files starting with the 001 application file, 002, 003...........to 022.

Appreciate your inputs.

Forgot to tell you that all 22 files are FBW files.

What program did you use for the backup?

Unless you like lots of spam I strongly suggest that you remove your email address.

I already went to my edit privacy and made it visible to contacts only, but it still show, thank you for the advice anyways.

As for the back up, I did a HP back files, that was my only option in my situation, what I got was 22 files starting with "001.exe back up application", then 002.backup FBW, 003 003 004 005 006 007 008 009 010 011 012 013 013 015 016 017 018 019 020 021 022, all FBW files, all files are under folder by the name of "MINWINPC" on my E drive.

Even though I have a back up folder on my E drive, when I try to restore my back up using the wizard of the recovery manger, it tells me that there are no back up on this computer.

I have a folder named "MINWINHP" that contain a file called :
"back up file 2011-10-31 8:04 PM File Folder", now if I double click on this folder, I get exactly what you see below:

Backup.001.exe
Backup.002.fbw
Backup.003.fbw
Backup.004.fbw
Backup.005.fbw
Backup.006.fbw
Backup.007.fbw
Backup.008.fbw
Backup.009.fbw
Backup.010.fbw
Backup.011.fbw
Backup.012.fbw
Backup.013.fbw
Backup.014.fbw
Backup.015.fbw
Backup.016.fbw
Backup.017.fbw
Backup.018.fbw
Backup.019.fbw
Backup.020.fbw
Backup.021.fbw
Backup.022.fbw

Now if I double click on the first file, a wizard window will pop up after about 10 minutes telling me "click next so the wizard will help you restore your files", but after clicking next, a new wizard window will ask me to insert the last file and click next, but when I do so the "next" will never highlight.

I've never used that program so I don't know how it is suppose to work. Perhaps you should call HP. I wish I could help you further but I don't think that I can.

The solution to this problem is:

add another "0" infront of all the files from 10 on...
backup.010.fbw - becomes - backup.0010.fbw
backup.011.fbw - becomes - backup.0011.fbw
backup.012.fbw - becomes - backup.0012.fbw
and so on. Then run the .exe file that is in the folder and the recovery manager should start the recovery process. A big thanks to troy at the tech republic forums!
