Hi, I have an interesting issue. I have an HP tx2 laptop, and an HP C5180 All-in-one printer, scanner & copier.
Have owned both for 2-3 years, but recently all of a sudden, windows does not recognise the scanner part. The scanner does not show in the scanners section of control panel, although the printer is recognised, and when i go to device manager, I can see the printer/scanner under the "imaging devices" and when opening properties, it says the correct driver is installed, and the product is working correctly!
I've read about issues regarding WIA or TWAIN drivers and non-compatibility, with windows photo gallery / MS paint, so downloaded both Picasa 3 and Photoscape. Both of these also fail to recognise there is a scanner there.
I have removed & re-installed the drivers about 3/4 times, but still the same.
I have tried to manually add the scanner, but after clicking "have disk" it expects an .inf file, which there are none on the cd, so can't add it that way either.
I then thought it may be an issue with my USB (i have a belkin 4 from 1 unit, and a bunch of USB devices) so went out and bought a bluetooth wireless HP Photosmart 5510.
Installed this, installation went as expected and prints fine, but again no scanner recognised. Also tried scanning from the scanner front panel, and this just pulls up an error message.
I have a temporary work around in gthat the new printyer scanner, can scan to a SD card, then I can put the SD card intio the pc, and get the scans that way, but that is pretty backward!
I have also tried manually installing the new scanner, but again hit the same stumbling block of it expecting an .inf file, but there appears to be none anywhere on the drivers cd!
Plesae help, this has been driving me nuts for over a week now, and I need to do a lot of scanning!
